Our Why…

A Little About Me

I’m Idler Bonhomme, but most people call me
Dr. B.  I’m a native of Gonaives, Haiti, a proud son of migrants, a brother, father, fiance, and a friend to many.

By profession, I am the owner and practicing physical therapist doctor at Fyzical Therapy and Balance Centers, by passion I am a servant leader in my community.

As a founding member of the Haitian American Association of Brevard County and former President of the Greater Haitian American Chamber of Commerce (GHACC)-Orlando it has become my goal to help elevate, inspire, and be a service to those who aim to build relationships in the Haitian community.

Our Mission

I Can Do All Things…

Many societies and cultures have migrated to other countries for a better life throughout history.  Human migrations are never-ending.  As for Haiti, history has shown us there are several periods of significant migration to the United States and other countries.

The initial wave for Haiti came at the turn of the 19th century, following the U.S. occupation from 1915 to 1934.  The surge was followed by political and economic chaos in 1986 after the collapse of Duvalier’s regime.  Then that was followed by the devastating 2010 earthquake prompting many generations of Haitians to move to the United States and in the Caribbean. More recently, continued political instability and other natural disasters caused several Haitians to leave their homes.

Haiti has a sizeable diaspora with those migrations, including the majority in the United States, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Canada, France (including its French Caribbean territories), the Bahamas, Brazil, and Chile.  Despite Haiti’s political turbulence, human rights abuses, hurricanes, poverty, earthquakes, along with the president’s recent assassinations, “Nou la” (We’re here).

Population in Haiti
